What is CGEIT?Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) is a professional qualification from ISACA® designed for IT professionals who direct, manage, provide advisory and assurance services and who otherwise support the governance of an enterprise’s IT and wish to be recognised for their IT governance-related experience and knowledge. |
CGEIT was introduced in 2007 and is built on intellectual property from ISACA® and the IT Governance Institute (ITGITM) with input from subject matter experts. Current CGEITs hold positions of C-level executive, senior IT manager and senior IT consultant. Around 2000 senior IT professionals in the world currently hold CGEIT and in 2010, 750 candidates globally sat the exam.

CGEIT Exam
CGEIT exams are public exams of 120 multiple choice questions in a 4 hour examination. Exams are held twice yearly in June and December. In 2012, CGEIT exams are on Saturday 9 June 2012 and Saturday 8 December 2012. Exams are held around the world (e.g. central London). Read ISACA’s guide to the CGEIT qualification here.

CGEIT demonstrates proven expertise and enhances credibility, influence and recognition.
Current CGEITs have roles and responsibilities to
- Oversee the development and maintenance of IT strategic plans
- Manage IT-enabled investment portfolios
- Advise on industry-accepted best practices and frameworks to improve IT governance
- Develop IT and information systems strategic plans and control frameworks
- Integrate information security into enterprise IT governance
- Manage the enterprise architecture
- Oversee the development and maintenance of risk strategy, plan and programme
CGEIT Training Course (4 days)
The CGEIT Training course is designed to enable candidates to understand the roles, responsibilities and various focus areas of IT governance and acts as a revision course to prepare them for the public examination. The course is aimed at IT and business professionals who hold substantial positions in management, advisory or assurance related to the governance of enterprise IT.
The course is organised by our partner, IT Governance Ltd, in central London about a month before the CGEIT public exams and is taught by our principal, Dr Geoff Harmer CEng, FBCS, CITP, CGEIT, who has 29 years experience in the IT sector and has specialised in training and consultancy on frameworks and standards for IT governance since 2001.
