COBIT Training

We are one of only a few companies that are Official Licensees of ISACA Content for Training thereby enabling us to deliver worldwide the ISACA-defined COBIT classroom courses. Courses are the well-established COBIT Foundation that we have been running since 2007 and the new follow-on course Implementing Governance of Enterprise IT using COBIT that enhances and replaces the old ISACA classroom course: Implementing IT Governance using COBIT and Val IT.

ITIL Training

Maat Consulting's COBIT courses use content with the permission of ISACA and include in the final hour of the course the relevant ISACA multi-choice exam leading to the relevant ISACA certificate.

Courses are presented by our COBIT lecturer, Dr Geoff Harmer, CEng, FBCS, CITP, CGEIT who is an ISACA-licensed trainer and has over 29 years experience in the IT industry as a lecturer and consultant.

We believe we are the only company to deliver COBIT training by an ISACA-licensed trainer who is also an ITIL Expert with ISEB ITIL lecturer accreditation since 2001 and is a specialist in best practice frameworks for IT governance and ITSM. By attending our courses, you can be certain that your concerns about relationships between COBIT, ITIL and other frameworks and standards will be fully addressed.

(Jun 28) ISACA released today 2 key COBIT 5 documents: COBIT 5 Framework and COBIT 5 Framework Reference Guide. These can be downloaded from the ISACA web site. Click here to view the update on the ISACA website.

(Aug 16) An update in 2010 on the COBIT 5 domains and processes from the development team at ISACA suggests that there may be 37 processes in COBIT 5.

(Mar 23, updated Apr 25) ISACA has released an exposure draft of COBIT 5 Design.  This is a 15 page document and is freely downloadable from ISACA's website. Comments were permitted to be made on the COBIT 5 Design exposure draft until 12 April. The comment period is now closed. Click here to link to the ISACA website and view the COBIT 5 Design exposure draft. COBIT 5 is expected to be available in early 2011.

ITGI published this guide in April 2009. It includes: business and governance challenges facing Service Managers and how COBIT can help plus the key governance tasks for the role aligned with ITIL V3 processes and COBIT 4.1 control objectives. Brief Case studies are included.
It is available from the ISACA Bookstore and is free for download by ISACA members.

ISACA has published the COBIT 4.1 to ITIL V3 Mapping document (65 pp). ITIL V3 maps to 24 of COBIT's 34 processes and maps fully to 8 COBIT processes. As the report says and we agree: "When used together, COBIT and ITIL provide a top-to-bottom approach to IT Governance and thus to service management". The mapping report is available for free download to ISACA members from the ISACA website or can be purchased as an e-book by anyone from the ISACA bookstore.

The IT Governance Institute (ITGI) has published (Feb 15) their third biennial report on IT Governance around the world.  The report was derived from the views of 749 CEO/CIO-level executives in 23 countries.  Their main concern was that their IT staff have inadequate skills and there are insufficient IT staff.  We at Maat Consulting were pleased to see that awareness of COBIT has increased to 50% and use of COBIT has doubled to 16% in the two years since the last report. Click here to link to the ITGI website to read the report.

Maat Consulting now offers the official ISACA COBIT Foundation Course. This is the ISACA authorised COBIT Foundation classroom event. We can run a one-company COBIT Foundation onsite course for your company. We also welcome approaches from ITIL training providers who are seeking to move into the rapidly-growing IT Governance and COBIT area.

Everything COBIT from ISACA, COBIT's owners, including a complimentary download of the latest version, COBIT 4.1.

COBIT 4.1 is now downloadable. Read Gary Hardy's ("father of COBIT") article about new features of COBIT 4.1 in the COBIT Focus online newsletter.
